- Sikharam There is a hill temple dedicated to Shiva at
a height of 2850 feet above sea level in the Nallamalai hills
- Patalaganga is where the bathing ghats associated

Temple history :
Mallikarjuna swamy temple is a huge temple built in the Dravidian style with fort like
walls, lofty towers and sprawling courtyards. This can be said to be the finest specimen
of the Vijayanagara Architecture. Kakatiyas and Vijayanagar Kings are also known to have
made several endowments here.
The famous Skanda Purana has a chapter
dedicated to the temple. Adi Shankara, the religious leader is also said to have composed
his Sivananda Lahari here. Tamil saint poets of past millennium have sung the
temples fame. |
