HIMROO
Himroo is yet another distinctive craft of making a luxurious
fabric. The art originated in Aurangabad. The fabric has a solid bright colored cotton
base with floral deigns and an extra silk weave. It gives us the impression of Jamaiwar
style of weaving introduced into the country by the Mughals.
The material made into
stoles, gowns and furnishings was once used as the dress material by the nobles. Today,
Himroo fabrics are mostly used for shawls, women's coats, mufflers and table covers.
