KANJIRA

Kanjira is used in the musical concerts as a secondary percussion instrument for producing a soft beat with a jiggling sound to accompany the light music.

Kanjira is made of a circular wooden frame which is 8-9 inches in diameter and 3-4 inches deep with skin stretched over one side of it. The frame also accommodates small anklet bells and metal rings in it that help produce the jingling sounds along with the                     beat.

Kanjira is played with right hand and palm while holding it in the left hand. Of course… this may not be the case with a left handed person!
