Sruthi box is yet another instrument used to set the basics of
sruthi as the Tambura. It is used to provide the drone in a concert for practice.
Sruthi Box but for the absence of the keyboard resembles the Harmonium in appearance. The
bellows are pushed inwards to produce the drone sound. It can only provide the three basic
notes of Sa, Pa and Sa of the higher octave. However, off late electronic
Sruthi Box is being used in place of the traditional one.
