The Qutub Shahi tombs, as the name indicates, are graceful domed monuments built in memory
of the six Qutub Shahi rulers. They are
a cluster of magnificent tombs erected in memory of the departed kings of Golconda. Those tombs stand amidst the beautiful landscaped
gardens called Ibrahim Bagh. The tombs have beautifully carved stone work and are built on raised terraces, which are accessed by flight of
steps on all the sides. The tombs are around 9-15mt tall and are surrounded by Balustrades
which have minarets at the corners. The tombs are constructed of grey granite with stucco
ornamentation. The most imposing of these tombs is the tomb of the fifth king, Mohammed
Quli Qutub Shah. It rises to a height of 42.5M with a large dome. The architecture of the
tombs indicate a blend of Persian and Indian styles. These tombs bear mute testimony to
the past glory and grandeur of the Qutub shahis. The tombs are open for the public
on all days except on Fridays from 9.30 AM to 4.30 PM.
